The basic component in a kiosk that interacts with kiosk users are categorised as follows :

Physical Kiosk/User (KU) Interface
The main interaction between kiosk and user is the touchscreen. Depending on your application and the environment the kiosk is operating, touchscreen technology is commonly categorized into 3 technologies :

Embedded Touchscreen

Intelligence Kiosk/User (KU) Interface
The intelligence lies in the PC. Normally, we propose industrial PC for our projects.  However, for small form factor kiosks, we would propose embedded PCs or customised industrial PC components to fit into the kiosks.

Payment Kiosk/User (KU) Interface
The payment interface that customer associated with are card readers, note acceptors and coin acceptors.

Card Readers are broadly categorized as :

  • Non motorized
  • Motorised
  • Swipe
  • Contactless

 

Validation Kiosk/User (KU) Interface
The physical validation of a transaction performed at kiosk that customers usually associated with are receipts. Receipts are generated by receipt printers which are commonly categorized into the following technologies:

  • Thermal Transfer
  • Direct Thermal
  • Dot Matrix
  • Laser

Other components that complement and supplement KU are keyboards, barcode scanners, photo scanners, RFID scanners, OCR scanners, wireless communicators such as Bluetooth, GPS; etc, multiple card readers, vending machines, photo booths, and many others.
